Subject: good exhaust mod? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 Quad cab 4.7 automatic. Have an airaid intake. Would replacing the fac muffler with a Borla 40665 and str8 piping the catalytic converter be a wise modification? Looking for a little more mpg's and performance with minimal interior noise. any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Message: how loud is your flomaster 40?. If I could make a dynomax Ultra flo work would be ideal. I printed their spec sheet on all there mufflers to see which would be closest with minimal modification. Is str8 piping the catalytic converter a good idea?

Message: I took off the flowmaster 40 series after a
couple of thousand miles (seals already
busting and wasnt loud enough) put on a
Dynomax Ultra Flow Race Welded muffler 3"
in/out 3" pipe catback, and a 4" megs tip...total
cost = less than $200!!!
I got the muffler and tip from Jegs, hell, the tip
was almost as much as the muffler, but it
looks soooo good

go with what you want, I dont think mufflers
make much if any HP increase on these 4.7's,
so I think sound is the only decisive factor.
happy noisemaking!

Message: You can get a Dynomax Ultra flo SS cat back kit for jegs for $199. I have one on my 5.2 and it is not loud in the cab but it sounds strong (deep tone) outside.
