Message: Yes. And if you have the pressure plate to go with it, it will be even better.
I have to admit that I've never heard of getting a torque converter balanced, only the flex plate.

Message: Balanced a TC on a 904 behind a 360 HP years ago, simple. There is a kit from Mopar Perf.
P4120241 for pre-Magnum.
P5249843 for Magnum engines.
Comes with weights and template, weld on with MIG or TIG, have seen guys do it with epoxy, I wouldn't though.
I've never seen anyone balance it on the flexplate. One reason, I think, is that the weights go between the mounting points for the plate to convertor...

Message: Mopar moved the 5.9's balance weight to the flexplate starting with the 1996 model year.

Message: Yet in the MP catalog it states "For use with externally balanced cast crankshafts in Magnum 360 engines from 1993-01"...Nothing about flex plate or '96 up.

Regardless of what the catalog states, it doesn't change the FACT that the balance weight was changed to the flexplate as a phase-in with model year 1996. Are you trying to say something in particular here? All warranty repair work is generally done with the 1996-up combo, meaning the flexplate and torque converter are replaced as a unit, (these units are indicated with a sticker and stamping stating "90 degree," in reference to the 90 degree bolt pattern, as opposed to the earlier offset pattern) since they will not interchange (individually...meaning the version 1 parts will not bolt to the version 2 parts due to a different bolt pattern), but they ALL fit the 360 Magnum engines since the crank bolt pattern is the same. You can use the version 1 flexplate and converter as a unit, or the version 2 plate and converter as a unit, but you cannot mix-and- match. So, an MP catalog unit will work just fine on ALL 360 Magnum engines, as long as the matching piece is used. The balance weight is the same amount, they just relocated it, and changed the bolt pattern. Are we all on the same page now?

Message: Thanx for the info. All my performance work is with Fords, so I didn't know that the Dodge TC had/has it's own balance weight. Learn something new every day.

Message: Only the 5.9 is externally balanced (in the 3.9/5.2/5.9 line of engines), and thus, the 5.9 is the only one requiring a balance weight on either the torque converter or flexplate. One way around this is to have the 5.9 crank re-balanced with Mallory metal to accomplish an internal balance, which eliminates the need for the external weight on the converter/flexplate.
