 Subject: K&N Air Intake Air Cleaner Assembly???

I want to get the K&N Intake for the older Dakotas the Air Cleaner assembly and not the FIPK one. I was wondering if I would need a cowl induction for it too fit. Another question is will it fit in between the firewall and the radiatior hose that connects to the thermostat????

I believe on the Gen 3's, you need a Cowl induction hood to have enough clearance, but that's just from what I've read from 1 or 2 posts, really don't know myself.
