Subject: I installed my MSD 6a IP: Logged
Message: I installed a MSD 6a ignition with the Blaster SS coil on my 2001 regular cab v6. Everything has been setup correctly. When the stock ignition is running on the truck everything is fine. When the msd igniton is running there is noise like a faint clack clack clack. It sounds like its coming from the clutch fan but im not sure. Once again when the stock ignition is plugged in there is no noise but when the msd is runing there is. Does anyone have an idea what could be going on? The truck runs great btw.

Message: please don't tell me your using the regular stock plug wires with your setup.
If you are, there's your problem or could be your distributor and rotor.

Message: Troy - MSD specifically says not to use their ignition system with stock/OEM plug wires. You will need to run a Spherical wound wire or a Superconductor

Message: I am upgrading my ignition this weekend. With the MSD ignition and a Blaster coil, you have to get new wires. I bought some MSDs from Summit for $60. You can also go with Taylor Spiropro as well, $43 from Summit, at least for the v8. Incidentally, if the V6 wires are more expensive, just get the v8 ones. You will just end up with two extra wires. Use one for the new blaster coil if you don't already have one. I also am replacing my cap and rotor with the accel one, and putting in a MSD RFI noise filter as well.
