 Subject: 1998 Amethyst v8 Dakota

I looked at a 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T club cab with a 5.9 liter V8 in it. The owner told me that there were only 400 made in this Deep Amethyst (purple) color. I was wondering if anyone can verify this and with 75k miles would it be worth around $8,000. Any input would be appreciated. The truck is automatic, has factory 17inch wheels and low profile tires on it.

I dunno about the rarity of it, I personally haven't seen many stock purple Daks. As for the price, it seems like a decent price for the truck, considering it's an R/T. Remember, pick ups don't lose their value as quickly as a car does. You might be able to talk him down a $1000 or even $2000. $8000 doesn't seem bad tho.

if you scroll down, there is a list of colors and numbers for the r/t, 52 reg. cab, 254 club cab deep amethyst. that is a hot color on the r/t and im the only one in my area with this color! mine is a 99 tho. that seems like a good price, but it could always be lower right?!!

The numbers are right for the 98. I also have a 99 DA R/T and I have seen one other in my area but never meet the person who owns it. prple-gaseatr what area are you in? I live in Maryland outside of D.C. Also a good source of info is www.dakotart.com and delphi R/T forums.

I HAVE A DEEP AMETHYST 98 CC R/T. I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND HAVE ONLY EVER SEEN ONE OTHER ONE LIKE IT IN FL . I WAS IN NJ LAST MONTH WITH MY TRUCK AND SAW 2 LIKE IT I GUESS IT'S WHERE YOU LIVE (HA HA )I LIKE MY TRUCK BECAUSE YOU DONT SEE THEM TOO MUCH. I SEE THE RED,BLACK AND BLUE ONES ALL THE TIME THERE ARE A DIME A DOZEN. I SAW A COOL COLOR ORANGEISH ONE ONCE . I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE ORINGAL PAINT JOB BUT IT LOOKED HOT!

yeah man,
this is my favorite color out there thats why i jumped on it last year, i bought it out from 4 people i know that were all racing down to the dealer where i bought it!, i think the color you mean is called amber fire, that is another color i like too, as well as the light greenish color

I don't know about "rare color" but I've got a '99 in deep amethyst. It's not a R/T but a plain old 5.2 SLT. Similar to what's been noted in the thread, I haven't seen another in the Tampa FL area. I get harrassed ocasionally about the "Barney" truck but I don't give a $^%#. I like it & after all, purple actually a "royal" color....
