Subject: beach driving? IP: Logged
Message: going back to the outer banks for the 23rd straight year. this time we have rented a house that we are only able to get to by driving on the beach. I know the sand gets everywhere. does anybody have any suggestions on how to prepare the truck for this and what to do after we leave.

Message: The only suggestion. If, it's soft sand you better lower your tire pressure.
Oh, Bring a shovel and some wood or steel ramps. Just in case you get stuck.

Message: You should be OK if you have 4 wheel drive. I would not drive in the sand without 4X4 unless you had somebody to pull you out.

Message: lol,
Hunter is right. I was down in Rocky Point Mexico. And i did get stuck in the sand. It is very soft down there.
i was stuck on the frame. So we had to jack the car up, put sand under the tire to get it off the frame, that's when the shovel comes handy.

Message: I've driven on the beach with a honda, FWD. Just stay on the beaten path. But some beaches are softer than others so yeah, be careful. Also, when you get back, it would be well worth it to steam clean the underside. That salt works wonders on steel. ...Is that rust I see?
