Message: True Dual exhaust with 2.5" pipes and high flow cats(a good custom exhaust shop should be cheaper than a so-so cat back system). Then all the other Mods will work like they should, you know like headers, t-body, CAM and such. Before it can breathe in correctly it must be able to breathe it out.

Message: Don't waste money on a cat back system. None of them make any power, and some of them actually cost you power.
Your best bang for the buck for a street performance vehicle is a blower. Calm, down, think about it. Do a little research on the appropriate web sites and see how much torque, how much hp, and how much area under the curve you actually gain for your $3500.
When you're done with that, go back to the drawing board. Start adding up the cost of a true dual exhaust with headers, underdrive pully set, computer flash, roller rockers, cam, etc, etc, etc. Even if you're optimistic, the blower is still the best bang for the buck.
You can do it all in one week end (a long week end). And you can easily take it off when you sell the truck.

Message: A blower? I dont want a full out drag vehicle or anything just a reasonably quick daily driver. To me a blower sounds like a race vehicle. Sorry for not clearing that up.

Message: You can put true duals on any thing. Just gotta find an exhaust shop with a technician that is at least 10% smarter than the equuipment he works with.

Message: Lets answer a few questions / issues brought up on this thread:
Yes, you can do a True Dual Exhaust on a 4X4. I have one (albeit a 4.7L) and it is dualed out. GS Motorsports has refined their setup (using my truck as a guniea pig) and it works. Just make sure to keep a catalitic converter on each pipe to stay legal and treat the O2 sensors right (plug 'em or simulate 'em).
I agree with putting a blower on the motor, but the costs of maintatnce go up with the blower too (re-flash the computer to advance the timing, beefed up components, more frequent oil changes, etc. etc.). For the average joe who does not know the concept of saving money to buy big, a Supercharger is not in the cards unless it comes stock on a daily driving vehicle (Lightning, GTO, Mercedes Kompressor, etc.).
The mods on our smaller trucks start costing $100 here and $200 there, but after a TB and an intake, the only ones left cost $500+ and require a mechanic.
Intake/Exhaust/Sparkplugs/Cams/TBs/etc are small add-ons that increase performance/power and help eachother. I am about to get the cams and F&B TB (as soon as Scott from GS Motorsports sends me my refund for being used) and will dyno the beast to see how autolite plugs, true dual, homebrew K&N intake, moved IAT, etc. compliment eachother (and hopefully push my 4.7 over 300hp).
Do some searching on this site. There are threads that go back 4-5 years and have the same info that you are looking for.
Good luck!

Message: Keith, I put a K and N air filter (45.00) on my truck, ported the Throttlebody(cost of bits for DremmelTool), the torque step limits the throttle body size to 48mm, I replaced my stock muffler with a flowmaster 70 series( about 100.00). This netted me about 40hp according to a Gtech meter.

I am down here in Houston and had to order the true dual from Scott Q. out of Californa at http://www.gsmotorsports.com/47dual_dakota.htm
Not family owned... and If it were the same operation that Scott works at, I would drive up there and demand my $100 refund in person.
You going to Salsarita fest? I'd be glad to see your '94 Dak...

Message: "treat your O2 sensors right - plug them or simulate them" ???!!??? How about "plumb them in?"!!! first of all - O2 sensors wont do you any harm - and the after cat sensors are simply checking up on the pre-cat sensors. To stay low buck - I'd use a fresh air intake and free up the exhaust. otherwise, I'd agree with .bob - a blower is cheap power - and not only for draging!
