I have a 2001 4.7L Quad Cab with 255/65r16's on it and they're dying fast (original Eagle LS's). I'm looking to get new tires but am having a hard time finding this size in many reputable brands. Not to mention that they're expensive for the amount of rubber I'd be buying (cops don't get paid much). I've seen several posts on different tire sizes for the 15 & 17 in. wheels, but I must be missing the ones for the 16 in. wheels. Having said that, I'm not opposed to changing tire sizes, as long as they do not alter the timing, speedometer, etc.
Please help a public servant out.

Ummm...must be blind. Went to tirerack.com and punched in my tire size and BFG. NO results. Anywho, in keeping with the tire question, I'm clarifying my request. Looking for a street. truck tire, kinda like the the Michelin LTX or Select that is sold at Wal-Mart. I know wishy-washiness is not a good thing, but I'm open to all suggestions.

What are you looking for in a tire?? Personally, I decided to go with the widest tire my 15x8's would handle (245/60R15). More or less what I had to do with tirerack.com was put in the size I wanted, then it gave me the tires I wanted.
BFG T/A's are pretty good. Good traction, good tread life (if you don't spin 'em too much). Wet traction is probably better than the stockers, but I still would slip all over the place while feathering it in the rain. Went to Pirrelli Scorpion Zeros, and I'll never go back to BFG T/A's on this truck. The Pirelli's hook up in wet conditions about the same as they do in dry, just waiting to see how long they last :-) Pretty hard to light 'em up as well. Cannot really do it in daily driving unless I try to power slide around a curve or something, but the BFG's would spin quite often, especially when I didn't want them to....

I put Michelin LTX M/S on mine. They were in stock at the local Discount Tire store. They were a little expensive. But they will probably be the last set of tires I buy for this truck. By the time they wear out, I'll probably be looking for another truck.
