Not really noticable. A Cold Air Intake would make a noticable difference, specifically from about 3000 rpm and up.

Ken, are you speaking from experience or just what you have heard? Not that I disagree with you but just wondering.

Personally I am leaning towards just a good quality paper filter. Yeah, you have to replace them, you can't clean them, and they may not flow quite as much, but let's face it, is the couple of horses you MAY gain worth all the extra dirt that will come in with all that air? Probably not. Now if there is a filter that flows more and will filter at least as good as a paper filter, then that is a different story.

I have looked at the Airaid filters and they seem like they might filter better than the K&N and flow better than paper, so mayber that is a good compromise.

I have read ALOT about the K&N not filtering worth a crap, and I don't want all that dirt in my engine, so, yeah, I am still totally undecided...

Someone make up my mind...PLEASE!!

Ok i broke down and got one yesterday. i noticed a little more pickup in the low range rpms and a little more sound from the throttle body. I think it was worth seeing as its a 1000000 mile warrenty and it does provide some performance.

The first thing I did with my '04 4.7 was put a K&N filter in it. Noticed nothing at all. Scraped that idea and got a Mopar Performance cold air intake. Works great and makes some cool noise about 3 grand.

I put a K&N in my '03 4.7 at 4000 miles. Didn't see any difference in power or mileage. Went back to Purolator Premium Plus at 11K because I noticed some fine dust on the back side of the filter. I looked at it after reading some of the posts here about dirt getting thru. also Hot Rod mag. did some tests and didn't show that much gain with the K&N over the Purolator.

I too have put in a K&N filter in my 99 5.2.
Like others here,, well.. really no difference.
BUT I have herd and have tried this, every time you change something on your engine you should unhook your battery for over a half hour. This will give that computer in there someting different to think about when it "reboots" and it will re-adjust to all the new componets you have installed and change the air flow things and such that was programmed in there to start with, when you then hook it back up of course. Good luck...

I installed a K&N filter shortly after purchasing my truck, on-road the higher air flow might help.

However since a lot of my recreational driving is off-road and very dusty I'll be swiching back to paper for the better filtering.

Nothing wrong with K&N, I want the better protection on paper filters off-road.
