heres the deal.i have a '02 reg.cab auto. with a 4.7 an 3.92 limited slip.
i went to the track tonight an ran a 15.82.it spun a little of the line,it wheelhopped little,it didn't just break loose bad though.i tried to keep it in drive to shift by itself.i also held it in gear longer.fast as i got was 15.82.the track i was at is only like 400ft above sae level and i wasn't really that hot.
it seems like i'm a good 6 tenths off of what i heard of others running
i was leaving the line at about 15-1800,it'll stall at 2000.but not hook

Go to the drag racing forum on dakotausa.com. Ask this same question. this sounds like more driver error than the truck. It also sounds like you have some traction issues.

Traction will kill your 1/4 mile time. What was your 60' time? If it was 2.6 or slower, that's your problem. You should probably be running 15.0-15.3 with a RC Auto 4.7 stock. With my moddel 97 5.2 CC that runs 15.4, I consistantly pull 2.22 - 2.23 on my 60' time. I launch around 2000 RPM and work my way into it, going WOT as quickly as I can while not slipping.. Funny part is, my fastest time to date is when I DID spin off the line, but she was still hooking, got my best 60' ever.

are the programmers out yet,it seems as it revving way past its peak hp.i'd like to lower the shifts to about 5000,it shifts by itself at 52-5300,it makes peak hp at 4800

No programmer
You also have to consider what kind of power you have when shifting up to the next gear. Even though it's past the peak HP, it may still be better than shifting to the next gear.....

Another thing to consider is that not all 4.7s come with the same amount of spark advance in the PCM. If you can find a flash to increase the timing go for it.
