Message: Hey Guys, I have a quick technical question for ya. I have a K and N filter installed and Flowmaster 40 Series muffler and Tips. I was wondering if It would be worth to get a Thorttle Body for my engine. I found a few online and a few on e-Bay ranging from 39.99-125.99. I was wondering if there is a certain one i should go with to get the most power/performance from it? I am not too savy on engine performance but i know Audio :) Any Help/Suggestions would be great.. Thanks.. -Kyle

Message: kyle, i'm probably getting a tb too. i have a 2000 4.7 4x4 awd and have been looking for more horses. before i found this site i got a cold air intake and jet chip. might have saved my jet chip money for a computer flash if i had known about this site earlier. from what the guys here tell me, the tb on our trucks was upgraded in 2001, then the intake manifold in 2003. i don't know how much you need a new tb when the stock cam doesn't bring all that much air in. i'm doing the ho cams first, then the intake (bought both wednesday, should be here soon) and later on a tb. maybe someone has had luck with a tb on a relatively stock truck. hint: do one mod at a time to see what gave you the gains. it'll help future guys on here and give you more stories to tell at the track

Message: Depends on what you're looking for. Pretty much the best one hands-down is F&B. I think the desired size is 68mm? Not sure, since I don't have a 4.7. I think the stock one was 65mm? FastMan's are also pretty good, but aren't billet like the F&B's, so they don't look as nice. Think the Fastman also requires a core exhange, which makes it cost less, but then you don't have the old TB laying around anymore either. There's one or 2 more floating around I've heard of (BBK, etc). On my truck, I probably wouldn't go with anything but the F&B (have a 50mm F&B on my 318). They look great, helped a little bit on the high end, and I know it's quality work. Fastman is good quality too, just doesn't look as nice. Getting a flash would be a better bang-for-buck mod at this point for you, I honestly wouldn't expect more than 1/10th of second in the 1/4 improvement with a TB, especially with a mostly stock engine.

Message: Depending on your funding situation, another option is to get a 2001+ TB, then either leave it at that, or port it yourself with a Dremel.

Message: I just ported the TB on my 00 4x4 cc auto 4.7L. i I noticed a slight difference. it's a little more snappy, and pulls a hair harder in the top end.
i did feel a little more pep around 2200 or so as well. it didn't seem to effect my low end either. if anything, i may have GAINED a slight bit.
the pics of the tb are on my cardomain page.

Message: I've got a home ported '01 68mm TB on mine but if you want this don't get one that's too new - something changed in '02 or '03 so the newest ones don't work on '00 4.7s. PCM flash and HO cams are great suggestions.

Message: The H.O. Cams are by far the best mod I have done to my truck, but then again I did it last, and we all know that mods usually work best in conjunction. They weren't all that hard to install. The hardest part was taking the driver's side valve cover.
