Message: I raced a truck a few months ago and we raced to about 70. He was trying to get in front of me to get into my lane to turn but I woulnd't let off. He had to get behind me to turn. My family was in the truck with me.
The thing is. I always could have SWORN it said HEMI on the fender. But i assumed maybe some assweed threw on a HEMI badge onto a non HEMI truck.
Or. Maybe my slightly modded 4.7 4X4 can keep up with a stock HEMI?
At least mine don't got no damn torque management like they do. Only very SLIGHT on my shifts.

Message: Ken
I ran my Dakota at the track and beleive it or not, the DAK launches better but falls flat at high RPM where the hemi just keeps pulling through 5800. In fact, it is scary when you feel it pull that hard and are getting to 5800 (RPM cutoff) so quick you think it won't shift. I have raced the same vehicles I did with the DAK and the while the DAK lost, the HEMI wins. So I have not ran the HEMI at the track yet but will one day. Hello, I had the DAK for 2 years and ran it once at the track (Englishtown) and got 2 runs in.

Message: You're right on that HEMI pulling. All the dynos I see show it getting max HP at around 5500 - 5600 RPM. Think my 318 makes it's peak around 4,800, but it only goes that high if i'm manually shifting, but gotta watch the rev limiter at 5,200 :( But DAMN she pulls like a bat out of hell from 50 to 70mph :) But once I hit 3rd, it's just diddly from there. Before, when I had BFG 245/60R15's on, downshiftting into 2nd during the rain would quickly get me going sideways at 45mph. Now I have Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (same size), and it hooks up just fine when kicking down to 2nd around 45-50mph. Lotta fun to take off like that in the rain.
One of these days, I'll get one of those HEMI's down here to be brave enough to run me :-) Had a Ram SS/T try to run me about a month or so ago. I ate him up from 25mph roll to 60mph, but it kinda evened out after that (I was behind, had to let off to keep from running him over, then got back into it and we held even)

Message: I wonder how embarassed you will be when you get beaten by a full sized Cummins 3500? I know of quite a few that could beat a lot of trucks on here including duners turbo 4.7 and some other fast daks. I'm not really impressed by the hemi ram, its a bigger engine in a bigger truck, keep putting bigger engines in bigger trucks and they will still be fast.

Message: Yeah, those diesels are very easy to upgrade. Simple little chip and ya get 100HP?!?!??! Man, I get a chip, I'd be happy to get 30-40hp. They got some really nice tuner chips for the different diesels where just turn a knob in the cab to adjust your hp/torque on the fly, 6 different settings for your desires.. nasty!!!

Message: I posted something about this in the members area but since we're on the subject...
Tonight I had to take my friend over to get his used Mustang 5.0 he just bought form this guy. ( a project car).
So on the way back he is goosing it a bit and so am I. SO this young guy makes it a point to line up with me. He's got a almost brand new Cummins (2500 I think) 4X4. So he went for it and he surprised me and I eventually BARELY pulled ahead to where his front bumper was at my rear bumper. This was to 60 maybe 70 then I let off because it was in the city stoplight to stoplight.
So at the next two lights (we were lucky to keep getting together at lights) he keeps making a point to line up with me. The next time I was ready (knowing for SURE he was racing) and got a good launch. I MAY have got one truck length on him that time and the next. Only racing to 60 or 70. Then he turned off.
So. How fast are those things? I figured I was going to pull him easier!
I assumed he was stock. Maybe he wasn't. Because he sure was into racing it!

Message: Fastest diesel Ram is is 10 seconds in the 1/4 I think he ran 10.3 at Bandimere, his name is fletcher and his truck is fast as. Another guy I know, his ram is running low 12's right now and he is hoping for 11's very soon.
Fact of the matter is it doesn't take much to make them 15 second trucks but it takes a lot to make them faster then that.
Pittdawg, you are right the engine is smaller, I was thinking in terms of power. So to rephrase my statement you put a more powerful engine in a larger truck and they will be fast. I mean hey the cummins is only 5.9 litres and it's an inline 6. All kidding aside the trucks are great but it's just a heavier truck that makes more power so in the end it's pretty moot.

Message: Had a run in with a Durango yesterday.
At a stop light (his truck is 5 percent limo tint) he revs it and lerches forward a bit. His truck is a n RT durango. I have 2 other people in my truck and a full tank of gas (truck is well over 5300 pounds). I would have have to bet the trucks are the same in weight if mine is not even more. Well, the light turned green but I waited a split second to see what he was going to do. Yep, he guns it and gets the jump by about a truck length. I nail it and by 40 had a truck length on him and by 70 had 4 truck lengths on him. Let off at 75 since another light came up. He pulls up, I look over (can't see him through the tint) and just give a quick nod and smile. The light turns green but he putted away.
Now if I was alone, I could have gotten at least another length on him. My calculations in the 1/4 mile I would have been about 7-8 lengths ahead through the traps.
Now, a single cab RT Dakota.. Would like to see it run my truck as I think it could get a quick god jump on me but the HEMI should reel it in by 50MPH.
I am not pizzing an Daks or Durangos. Hell, I owned 4 Daks in my time (since the first year 1987)I am just saying what stree race I had yesterday. It was cool.

Message: The 5.9L Durango R/T's run 18.+ up here, so 17's at sea level puts you in the 15's or 16's. Good kill I guess.
The New H.O. Cummins 5.9L Diesels are stock 325 hp. If they get the BANKS 6 Gun and Speed Loader that adds another 130 hp for a grand total of 455 hp with only a chip. With a Club Cab 2500 4x4 on Stocks they run 15.2's at sea level as tested by BANKS Power.
