Message: Hey guys, i am looking at a 2001 Durango 5.9L 4x4 with 53k miles.I was wondering if any of you could tell me how well the 5.9's are. Also what to look for when i go for the test drive.Like in problems that it might have.I have a 99 Dakota 3.9 and im looking into something that has more room. The CC just doesnt have the int. space i need.
Anyone who has something to say please let me know.I just need some ideas to have so i know what to look at the most.I dont want to buy something thats going to need alot of work.
Thanks for any help.

Message: One of the major things you can do (seriously) is turn off the radio turn the a/c on and PUNCH IT! Listen for spark knock... if you hear it, the intake belly pan gasket has a leak (more than likely) and it will burn oil (but usually not smoke)
Also put the tranny through its paces, make sure it shifts good and hard under wide-open throttle. Basically run the crap out of it :-) another thing is the ball joints, do some parking lot maneuvers and listen for clunking/popping sounds under the front-end....
Hope i helped
