Subject: IAT - which year?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 01 4.7 QC and I want to try the IAT relocation mod. I believe I have found the sensor on the left side (driver's side) of the the TB in the manifold (2-wire). It does not seem to screw in with pipe threads as others have mentioned. If you turn mine 45 deg the sensor pops out of the bung in the plastic manifold. Anyway, I like to leave that one and get a second one that has pipe threads that I can screw into the air box. My question is what year's of iat sensor will work? Does it have to be specific to the 4.7? I've called around and the dealer told me $62 - I think he had his head somewhere else. I've also called parts stores asking for a iat for a 2000 4.7 (thinking that year is threaded). They dont have one in stock and would have to order it for around $30. Most call it an air charge sensor - is this the same thing?

I read someone's post saying they bought an iat for their 01 for $7. Maybe someone give me a part# of an iat that would work from the dealer, O'reilly's, Advance, Auto Zone or Napa as those are the stores around here. I would like to keep the mod under $20.

Thanks.

IAT stands for Incoming Air Temperature Sensor.... I don't think air charge is corrct terminology for this.. air charge is something like the density of the air, but hey, thats just my opinion... ask them it thats the sensor the measures the temperature of the air to be sure.... $62 for a dealer price on a sensor is not too high, but I've never had to replace my IAT, try another dealership to compare prices, even if it's long distance, that cost may save you the headaches of getting the right part compared to the wrong ( or overpriced) part!

Yes, the IAT is the same as the air charge temp sensor. It is the only temp sensor on the air intake assembly (intake tube, throttle body, or manifold).

I bought one for $30 for my 93 Dak. I have no idea if it has the same electrical connector as yours. I bought mine at Advance. Just go to Advance and see if the electrical connector is the same.
