 Subject: 91 Body--92 Engine

The other day I went to Carquest to get a waterpump gasket, the one for a 91 did'nt fit.So we looked at a 92,it fit. I bought the truck in June 1991 off the showroom floor. Is it possible I have a 92 engine?

Do you have 8 fuel injectors(MPI) or do you have throttle body injection(just 2 injectors)? MPI (8injectors) 92 motor, TBI (2injectors) 91 motor. It is possible that they swapped over to some new parts half way through a model year.

2 injectors, TB. however this was not the first time I got the wrong parts. Ex, in AZ I replaced the soft plugs, The ones they gave me for a 91 did'nt fit, so we went to a 92, they fit. This also happened with the starter, alternater and a heater hose that goes between the water pump and intake manifold.
