Subject: Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051 tires? IP: Logged
Message: My dak is about due for some new skins (the factory tires have almost 50K on them (wrangler RT/S)
the yokos seem to have pretty good "bang for the buck" I read a little about them on tirereck's site, I just wanted to know what they are like on a dak :-) by the way, they will be going on a 00 CC 4.7L 4x4 auto with 3:55 LSD...
Thanking you in advance

Message: Here's a reply! Just put a set of BFGoods All Terrain KO's on mine. The tirerack rates them #4 for on/off road use. The only tires rated for severe snow conditions if that is a concern. Their solid white lettering looks great against my white '97 Dak! I think the Yoko's are rated #1 for on road use. I'm planning to try a set on the wife's Escape in the near future.

Message: I went ahead and bought some Dayton Timberline L/T tires... I got out of the shop for $420! not too bad, and they are MUCH more aggressive then the goodyear wrangler RT/S OEM tires I had.. The wrangler RT/S looks like an overgrown car tire LOL!! never again will I use them! (the wrangler) I have no problem with the goodyear rubber, just the tread design was whimpy!

Message: I've got a set of Geolander's on my '00, 4.7, 5-speed. They're great in snow and around town. I do have trouble with the rear end coming loose when I hit metal on the road, particularly if it's wet, I've wondered if a different set of tires would be better, I think that the rubber is quite hard, but I run mine at pretty high pressure. They give me decent mileage, 15-19mpg. One thing that I have noticed, they throw stuff like nobody's business. On a wet highway you'll have crap in the box, on slush, you'll throw snow high enough to get it on the windshield of the guy beside you. Might be the nature of the truck though.
