Message: i know i know... yet another mileage post...
we all know we didnt buy a dakota, let alone a V8 Dakota for gas mileage... it just feels good when you can up it that much more...
i bought the K&N FIPK (57-1509) and put it on. The diffrence it makes is quite an addition to the truck.
1 - the motor growls instead of sounds like theres nothing under the hood
2 - smoother throttle response
and
3 - MPG - mine shot up from 10 in town to about 13-14, and 15 highway to around 17..
best money ive spent in a very LONG time!

Message: Thats funny, when I put a FIPK on my 99 5.2 it sounded like water going thru a garden hose, when I was at half throttle, I didn't like it. It went away hen I put the 50MM TB on it.

Message: i bigger throttle body, most likely also ported and polished...
mine also has a hiss to it under hard acceleration... but also if you pull the entire assembly off, listen to that hiss - much much louder ... its not the intake its the t/b...
