Subject: Mopar pcm 1st hand experience? IP: Logged
Message: I'm wanting to order a mopar pcm for my truck. My questions are:
-When the timing advances what rpms is idle?
-Is there a big difference on tranny shifting? Does it smooth out or grab with higher shift points?
- Any other input good or bad would be apprciated.I'd like to here the pro's and con's.
I don't race my truck, but enjoy mopar power!!

Message: It will depend on the year/model of your truck.
I have a 1992 318 2wd. My idle did not change. My power went way up. Shift points under WOT are somewhere around 5500-6000rpm. It never went that high before. Drives fine, revs a little quicker.
I always had detonation/pinging on my engine under WOT at 3500 or higher. Part of that was due to a blown intake gasket. However I put the PCM in before fixing the gasket, and all but eliminated the pinging once I had run a tank or two of 93 gas through it. The M1 I subsequently installed really gave me a boost on the top end as well.

Message: Shifts are very quick - rev limiter is raised a few hundred rpm - more midrange torque & top end power - I stuck with 87 octane - so far so good.
