Message: The problem everyone is having here is that the sway bar is moving inside the rubber sway bar bushing and causing a sqeaking noise as the bar rubs across the rotating bar.The rubber bushing should adhear to the bar with the rubber flexing as the bar moves. The solution given by antonio to clean the bar and bushing and apply belt dressing is the best one I have heard yet. I have found that by cleaning the sway bar completly with a degreaser and installing a new bushing that will grip the sway bar tightly usually solves the problem. The poly bushings are made to allow the bar to move inside, since they are too stiff to allow flexing.

Message: I had the same problem twice already..the dealer replaced the bushings this time last year and it started again a few months ago. I took the front sway bar off and found the the bushings had little to no grease and some dirt in them. I cleaned them out and applied some lube and have not had a problem for 2 months now..the front end seems as good as the day I drove it home

Message: Hello all.
My 2000 CC just starting having this problem. I started another thread about it here before I found this one.
As I stated on the other thread, this started just after I had it to the dealer for it's 36-month service. I took it back and they lubed the bearings, but the squeak was back after just a few miles of driving. I guess I'll take it back again.
Other than being very anoying, is there really anything to be worried about? A week from tomorrow I'm heading up to the mountains in central PA and don't want anything to break when I'm in the middle of nowhere!

Message: Has anybody bought the bushing kit from Energy Suspension for the 2002 QC 4x4? I know they don't list it as an application, and when I e-mailed them they said they don't have anything for this truck. Are you guys just measuring the sway bar and buying the right size bushing? A new set of bushings from them wouldn't set me back too much (I think they're only like $25) but I'd still like to get the right ones the first time.
Thanks!
Andy

Message: Hi, boy am I glad to find out i'm not alone! My 02 QC started 3 months after I bought it new. The sqeaking only seems to happen in cold weather. My issue is that i can feel the bumps in the steering wheel and on the floor, especially when taking turns with light to moderate acceleration. I'm afraid something's gonna fall out!! I had the bushing done in december 03, and it was like brand new, for about three months. Hmmm, sound familiar? Personally, I've done my time working under cars. I think if Dodge gets enough nasty e-mails about this problem, they'll fix it. I love my dakota, but this is getting frustrating!!!

Message: I have the same problem with my 97' Dakota 4x4. I'm shocked that there isn't a recall on this considering all the complaints. Thanks for all the suggestions on this site. I now know what to look for and will save time in the process.

Message: Ralphie, get a clue.
Did you notice that the thread topic is "Squeaking sway bar bushings"?!? No? Well, maybe you noticed that the forum in which this thread is posted is called "V8 Dakotas"?!? No, again?
Hmm...
Well, maybe I should quit beating around the proverbial bush & just blatantly point out that your post has nothing to do with squeaking sway bar bushings or with a V8 Dakota. And then just maybe, beings that it is early & I am still cranky from a lack of caffeine in my system, I will make comment on how it is not bad enough that you bought an S-10, but you paid extra for an Xtreme edition. Damn, dawg!! You must be rollin' in mad style wit' yo' fly-ass S-10 wit' dat factory installed 2" lowering kit!!!
And, to make the coup de grace* of your online persona complete, you had the "good" sense to come to a Dodge Dakota message board to whine about getting your S-10-driving ass handed to you by a Dakota?!?
Be gone from here.
kthxbye
