Subject: Headliner Glue IP: Logged
Message: I am about to replace the headliner in my '91 extended cab. Does anyone know how well contact cement, such as available at builders supply stores, will work? I know it will stick but am wondering how well in will withstand the heat. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Message: Scotch 3m makes a spray adhesive thats designed for this use. I think it's #33 spray adhesive. you don't want to use contact cement.

Message: Thanks, daddio. I have installed several headliners with the 3M glue. It works okay, but is a little pricey. I don't do enough of them to warrent buying a 5 gallon bucket like upholstery shops use and was considering the contact cement as a way to increase my profit. Just being too greedy, I guess.

Message: i've upholstered a few myself and took a 18 month course in upholstery. the 3M stuff is available in like a 12 spray can. plenty to do a headliner. probably enough to do headliner & door panels.

Message: How do you get that much coverage out of a 12 oz. can, daddio? It takes me two full cans to do an extended cab pickup. Am I putting it on too heavy, or what?
