Subject: Throttle whistle??? IP: Logged
Message: Dumb question here, but this has me stunned. I have the 5.2 in my durango, and i've cleaned the throttle body twice, it was pretty dirty. there's a whistle only durring accel., and it's pretty loud at about half throttle. not too noticeable at full. what could it be? thanks guys.

Message: if you have a cold air intake, its normal... thats a pretty common gripe with a CAI system.

Message: if you bought it used the previous owner could have modified the TB buy removing the 48mm step before the thottle plate. this makes the TB very noisy, mine got worse when combined with the KN filter. but the performance gain is worth it.

Message: I have the Volant CAI. It's only noticeable when the engine's warm. Doesn't bother me much, but it's just annoying. Is there any way to fix it? I LOVE the sound of that intake when I romp on it though.

Message: alot of the time that whistle comes from the throttle body after it
has been removed, what'll happen is the flange on the TB where
the bolt go will crack if over tightend. It happend to
me...Nothing a little RTV sealent cant fix...... :)

Message: mine whistled too REALLY LOUD! it still does now, but what i found out was the airhat was not seated properly on the tb. it was up about 1/4" in the back.(it was dark out 1 nite after i put it on). man, i felt like a smacked as# after doing that.
