Message: Thrush,
Post a link when it's done. I'd be interestd in taking a look at it. Also whatever part number you may have as well. Will make it easier at the parts store. Does it sound pretty good? Loud all the time or just when you stomp on it? Sound clip by chance?
thanks

I will send you a couple of pics of the muffler after I resize them. I will take a picture under my truck as soon as I can and email them to you. It sounds awsome. I started my truck after removing the original muffler and it was too loud.

Did you check to see if you had a third cat? I suppose that you live in Canada and I'm not sure what the emission laws are there.

That (above) is nothing but a glasspack. Been around for years and sells for about $20.
If you want a noticable rumble at idle, but loud as utterly possible at WOT, that will do it!
I sometimes like the sound of glasspacks. I had them on my built Mustang 302. Used them on my Dad's Dodge 400 with headers (years ago) and they sounded bad ass. Other than that they are not as popular.

That's it. With a cat on each header pipe sound is not as bad as you think. When it burns out only $25 at Advance auto to replace it. Very little restriction and no resonance at highway speed in 5th gear. If I go back to 4th gear, that's another story.

Did not do much for MPG, but I get right around 17 now!! Better than my V6 1999 explorer 2 door!!! Thanks John looking at the K & N air filter now!!!!! :)

Message: Cherry bomb, from Checkers Auto Parts costs something like 21 dollars. But it was 28 or 29 inches long, will this be a problem IF I tried it instead of a Thrush glass pack. I have a 04 QC 4.7.

Yea, I put it on myself soon after I bought the truck. I think Feb. but crs. It sounds great.
JB
Mine is a 28" and it replaced the stock muffler without any extra pipes or hardware. I only had a cat on each header pipe. You may want to use band clamps like the factory put on to keep from crimping into the original ss pipes, makes it difficult to remove or replace. By using band clamps, you have to take a hack saw and cut 3 or 4 small slits in the ends of the Thrush, where it clamps on to the original exhaust, so it will clamp the muffler down and seal tight. The reason I did that is so I can easily take it off and put a new one on should the glass burn out over time.

It isn't that loud. Deep mellow sound and no resonances. It does change slightly when it gets hot though, but not overly loud. It sounds like a BA V8.

I have an oppertunity to buy 1 spintech sportsman street muffler (2.5" center in/out) it was used for less 500 miles...
I was wondering, how would it sound in place of the stock muffler? Bear in mind, that I LOVE the sound of the GSM true duals! I want people from a block away, to know that theres a V8 rolling up!!
The truck is an 00 cc 4x4 4.7L auto...
Thanks

Message: The spintech sounds good up to about 3500 RPM, then it gets pretty high pitched. It does, however have the most amazing "burble" after you rev it up and let off. That may be the true duals talking, but I love it.
