Message: do you have a code p0455? most likely cause is the fuel cap. usually set the code after getting gas. check to see if the cap is tight and it helps to shut the car off when filling up thats when the pcm sees the large leak when the caps off and the car is running

Message: check all the vacuum lines from the purge solenoid to the fuel tank. usually if it's a gas cap, it's a small evaporate leak, not a large.
the code doesnt really tell you to look in one particular place. you'll just have to search it out and find the leak. i've seen the code on a 2001 ram and had to replace the hose assembly from the purge to the tank. i've also seen it on a mustang and had to replace the filler neck tube from the gas tank to the quarter panel.

Message: Take a look at the EVAP canister under the drivers side of the truck, just fwd of the fuel tank. I have the same codes on my 2003 dakota and when i got under the truck today to change the oil I found ALL of the runnber hoses to the EVAP canister split. Changed them out and we shall see...

Message: I had an error code for a "small evap system leak" P0442. Changing out the gas cap solved the problem. The new gas cap I got even has a label on it that says if you don't tighten it down then the check engine light will come on.
If this doesn't solve the problem for you, then you may have a leak somewhere else in the system. My mechanic says they can diagnose where that leak is using a fog system, and this service costs around $60.

Message: After filling up my engine light
went on ... the cap was not the problem
with only 140K miles and a history of evac code
p0442 it was the two curved hoses with clamps
fixed the problem ... local auto repair shops have
to be avoided, with my extensive experience,
I was faced with $50 to put my Dodge on their lift
my brother auto mechanic warned me about such
a scheme once on the lift the shop will most likly
tell you it's the canister part @ $200 plus hoses
YOU CAN DO THIS EASILY THE SET ON AMAZON WAS $11
PLUS $10 FOR A NEW CAP ...
USE COMPRESSION CLAMPS ... THESE SITES ARE FANTASTIC AND PROVIDE EXCELLENT INFO
