Message: Has anybody had any noticeble gains from removing the rubber flap and the snorkel on the air box of a 99 5.2? I was thinking of getting an air intake but can't really afford it right now, so I thought that if I removed the snorkel and then the flap that should allow cooler air right into the front of the box. I am really looking for a few extra mpg's, not really worried about the gain in HP, but it would be a nice plus. I am also thinking about running some ABS from the air box up to the opening by the radiator. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Message: It would certainly be an improvement. The stock snorkel is pretty small. So making that bigge with a better/colder air track will make some improvement. How much is hard to say. Go fo it.
