Subject: Not My Transmission! IP: Logged
Message: I just brought my truck to the dealership today, had a problem with a grinding type noise when shifting from reverse to drive, drive to reserve, reverse to park. I got to the dealer, and their "transmission guy" hopped in the truck, and we drove it around the lot and changed gears several times. He thought it might have been something with the gear box, but then he took it inside, (and I was stuck sitting in the lobby watching Regis and whatever her name may be these days) and an hour later, they came to the conclusion that it was the rear leaf springs. When shifting gears, it apperently "loads, and unloads" the springs. So, they packed them with some white grease, gave me the key, had me sign for it (under warrenty) and off I went. Before leaving the dealership however, I had tried it out to see it they had fixed the problem, and thats all it was. So, I was happy with that, I thought it might have been something internally with the transmission, but it wasnt anything at all. I also had my baffle and my cap replaced due to the white foamy stuff in the oil fill. I am very glad to see that its not my transmission!

Message: Huh, that's interesting. I didn't know newer vehicals would preload that hard. My father has a 70' benz roadster and when it goes into revers the back end drops between 2-3 inches. It's really cool to feel the whole thing squate, but i have never seen any other vehical do that. Learn something new everyday.
