Message: My 2000 5.9 RT has the blank console. Does anyone know if the wiring harness runs up to it so that all I need to install is the module and display unit.
Thanks for the help.

Message: Yeah, it is real dumb, the word clip. They could have used something better, makes it sound like all you have to do it pull it out and put the display in. I did a search on this site, and have been reading some very interesting things about this project.
Might no be a good idea. Clip.....who would have ever thought of that.

Message: I spoke to the dealer about this and the way he made it sound was that you have to run the wiring from the fuse box to the overhead. There is an exsiting space on the fuse box. You just need to attach there and run the wires up the main support to the left of the window and over to the console.

Message: Wcomea,
Not that easy... Look at some of my other posts...
You WILL need (+) and (-) 12V from the fuse box but you also need
(+) and (-) amb. temp sensor (hardwired to console)
(+) and (-) CCD bus
as well as the 3 wires that are already there for the lights.
That's a total of 9 wires.
I have all of the wiring diagrams that I think you will need. Anyone who wants them can email me. The wiring diagrams are NOT for 2001 and up. When I started this project I assumed that the wiring in the 2000 and 2001 was the same but it is not. I am waiting for alldata to put out the 01 service manual so I can continue my project but I DO have info for the 2000 model if you want.

Message: I just bought an 03 QC 4x4 (the rebates made it too tempting over the identical 04's) and had to search for 3 states to find the right vehicle. The item that made it hard to find? The overhead console. Overhead Convenience Group. The local dealer had the indentical truck I wanted but without the console so I asked them about adding it. The dealer flat out said that it's not an upgrade they can perform. Not saying it's impossible, but it's certainly harder than just popping it in and plugging in the wires.

Message: I am trying to install an overhead console with all the goodies into a 1999 dodge ram(which never had a console). The console is out of a 2000 or 2001 Ram , and should be identical to what my 99 could have came with.
I bought from dodge the wiring harness that runs from the console to the rear side of the fuse panel. There is another small plug (by fuse box plug)on the harness that I'm not sure where it runs to. The lights on the console work fine , but a code CCd comes up on the display. Does anyone here know what the other plug on the end of the harness is for or where it goes, and also what the code CCd stands for and how to fix it.
Thanks for now, Kelly

Message: CCD refers to the lack of communications with the other modules on the truck.. In that harness there should be a pair of wires twisted together. They have to be hooked up to the vehicles databus system in order for the console to work.
OC indicates an open in the ambient temp sensor circuit.
SC indicates a short inthe ambient temp sensor circuit.
I can email you the wiring diagrams if needed.

I just got it to work!
The wiring harness had to be spliced and hard-wired as my truck never had a plug on the Bus wires, where the other plug on console harness needs to go.
Now I just need to buy a temp sensor with wiring pigtail to main engine harness and everything should be working.

Message: I installed a console in my 98 ram truck with one I purchased from ebay. Mine had the console with the temp and compass, but I wanted the trip and fuel mileage and distance to empty. I had to cut my plug going to the old console and wire the one that came with the one I got from ebay wire to wire. There was 2 wires that weren't in my over head the white/black wire and the purple/brown wire. I had to run wires from the module under the driver kick panel up to the console and wire them in. Everything works fine. Hope this helps anyone.

Message: I have a 1999 digital overhead console and a 2001 overhead console with homelink for sale. I have a 04 Dakota and have been trying to get everything to work. Every thing works with the 01 consoles except the temp?? The 99 console only works with 99 and earlier, cause the wiring for the temp sensor is different.
Thanks to everyone's info on these boards.
