This truck is a 318, 4wd with auto & OD. Anyway, the cruise doesn't work. I've had it for almost a year with no problems until this week.
I took off on a long trip. After a couple of hours at a steady speed, the engine started revving up a little. Nothing serious; it sounded like a electric cooling fan kicking in. The tach didn't move. It only seemed to do it on hills.
I gave it a little gas and it sped up normally. I shifted out of OD for awhile, and it would still do it. At 75 mph in OD, the RPM was 2400, and over 3000 out of OD.
The thing shifts normally driving around town, and the fluid is red, clear, with no burnt odor.
Anybody have any thoughts what's going on? Do you think I got a trans. problem, or could it be in the engine controller? I did notice a little pinging that I never heard before, but I'd just filled up, and attributed to bad gas. These two problems did not happen at the same time.
