Message: Im plannin to make a pass this weekend. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar truck and ran it. I should see some mid 15s at around 90mph give or take.

Message: Well I read in a recent mopar mag "mopar now" they put the 4.7 auto reg cab dak up against the r/t and it ran quicker than the r/t. It ran 15.40s. I figure my truck should do something close to it....15.6-15.8 range. The only advantage the 4.7 had was 3.92s insted of my 3.55s

Message: You're not running a 4.7 according to your original post. Ask someone like Kowalski, .bob or Graphite Dakota. These guys are in the know. The ET's that I quoted may have been favorable to you. The best test is the strip.

Message: Yes I know but the horsepower is rougly the same as the 4.7 motor. I dont see why I shouldnt see some mid to high 15s out of it. It doesnt have a traction problem. It just pulls strong all the way up through the rpm range. Even if someone could tell me what they have done, the track will tell the tale. Its safe to say mid to high 15s out of it. It might to better or it might do worse.

Message: Depends on your traction and your shifting. I had a 69 GTO 366 hp that would run 15.5 or 14.5 on factory tires, Depended on how I 'got out of the hole'. These Dakotas are kick ass, remembering that they are still trucks with torque for pulling.

Message: Yea, ive done some launches around here and it doesnt have much of a traction problem with the auto. stalling it up to about 1200 it chirps the tires a little bit and goes hard. The track surface might not hook like the new road i tried it on. A buddy of mine bought a 01 reg cab 4.7 5 speed 3.92 rear dak and he pulled off a 14.7 with the only thing added as a set of universal lakewood traction bars. the rest of the truck was bone stock. So i should do pretty decent being i dont have traction problems. I expect the mid to high 15s. Saturday will tell....

Message: Back in '98, my club cab 5.2, auto., 3.55 SG, K&N replacement filter, Gibson dual exit catback, 4,375lb. had 16.8, 16.7, 16.8 at around 80 mph in its first three runs at 600' elevation. I found out a couple of years later that the computer had the dealth flash from the factory (emissions are tough in Ont. :-( ). Based on that, I would guess that your 98 RC will run low to mid 16s. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Message: FlameRedDak ... the times aren't attitude adjusted. At that time, I was running with about 240 lb. of appearance mods. My guess is that your RC weighs in the neighbourhood of 3900 lb or so if in stock condition. Based on the 3900 weight and depending upon if your computer has a "death" flash or not and what I ran in those three runs, I would think that you would be 4 to 6 tenths quicker than my times then (not factoring in weather and track conditions). That's why I am interested in how you make out.

Message: Well the curb weight shown in the car magazines show it to weigh around 3526 (3763 for club cab) with the automatic without driver. Obviously thats just going by what they say. So going by that and horsepower, logicly, it should be in the mid 15 second range. Saturday night I should have the times posted. I shouldnt need more than a couple of passes in it.

Message: See if your track has a DIY weigh scale. I've come across a couple of sites which give it as 3900 lb.

Message: The source I used was MSN Carpoint. You can specifiy reg cab 2wd and it gives you the curb weight for the auto and the stick. Car and Driver magazine had said the range of weight was 3400-4600. I assume that ranges from the base 2.5 reg cab 2wd all the way up to the 5.9 4 door 4wd. For it to give me the weight with the auto it would have had at least a 3.9 liter in it being the 2.5s were stick only. The v6 and v8 shouldnt have much of a difference in weight. The best way is to get it weighed. Cars and trucks can vary in weight from one to another so.

The second link is the one where it shows a breakdown on the curb weight from model to model. Someone might find those usefull....Times will be posted asap...
