Subject: hanging plug IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, i just crawled under my 98 4x4 dak today and i noticed a two post plug was hanging down by the transfercase transmission area and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what this plugs into or where it goes. thanks

Message: The speed sensor has a two wire connector. There is also a vacuum switch on top of the transfer case,it is inboard of the front driveshaft yoke on top of the case. Good luck.

Message: I'm not real sure on the electronics of these things, but I think the speed sensor inputs to the computer to operate the speedometer, the shift sequence and the top speed limiter. The vacuum switch operates the shift motor on the right front axle housing. I believe the shift motor locks the front axle while in Four Wheel Low. Mine does not have it. The Haynes manual doesn't give much info on this stuff. Maybe a Chrysler service manual would give more info. Dan

Message: well my speedo works and for what i know the 4wd system works good too. but i was planning on carrying it to a dealer and seeing what they might say.
