Subject: 96 5.9 sounds like it says a huge cam IP: Logged
Message: Today my 5.9 started spitting and missing so I did the normal plug, wire, cap rotor change. Now it sounds like its struggling to push air out. I did a compression check and I have no pressure in #4. I have 150+ in every other cylynder. Any ideas? Stuck valve? Bent valve?

Message: Did you put a little oil in the cylinder and recheck the compression? If it came up, it's rings. If it didn't, it's valves.

Message: I would be willing to bet that you have a broken valve spring. Pull off the valve cover and check er out. It is a pretty easy repair. Just use a leakdown tester to put air in the cylinder so the valve doesn't fall in and get a valve spring compressor that will work on an assembled engine and swap em out. Even if you take it to a shop it should not be too bad of an expense-maybe $150. I just did one last week and I think the dealer I work for charged about that price. If you don't own the tools it may be cheaper to have it done at a shop. Hope this helps.
