Subject: Royal Purple engine Oil??

Message:
Im just curious to konw which is really better for my 97 club cab 5.2 4x4 dakota its got a little over 120k miles on it.. and i've been hearing mixed reviews about royal purple and amsoil, royal purple claims to give a 5% increase in horsepower and torque and improved gas milage .. im still skeptical though, at nearly $6 a quart im not so sure if its worth it.. so is royal purple and amsoil basically the same as other synthetics or better and which is better.. any info you guys can give is appreciated

I have a 1995 5.2L CC with 110,000 using 10w-30 Royal Purple. It is more expensive but I have found it to smooth out the idle and, although I have not precisely measured it, I believe mileage went up a few tenths as well as torque. My V8 runs cooler and trouble free. I think any good synthetic would provide you with the same performance but RP sold me on the cleaning and the lower friction aspects of its formulation. I also go slightly longer on oil changes as well (5K miles) making it a little more economical.

Royal Purple Engine Oil vs. Amsoil
IP: Logged

Message:

Royal Purple is a TRUE Synthetic Motor Oil and a good oil, but their 5w-30 tends to thin out very quickly. If your choice is Royal Purple, go with RP 10w-30, it will have less of a tendancy to thin out. Royal Purple is not your best choice for extended drains.

Amsoil SAE 5w-30 or 10w-30 Synthetic Motor Oil Retail Price Comparison

(1) quart bottle - $5.85 (Retail)

(1) gallon bottle - $22.80 (Retail)

(12) quart bottles - $69.00 (Retail)

Amsoil Preferred Customer Pricing is approximately 20% less.

Redline is another excellent synthetic oil, but VERY pricey (currently about $10 or more per quart), and they offer no Preferred Customer Program whereby customers can receive approximately 20% off retail pricing (Amsoil does). Redline has an excellent additive package.

Of course I am particular to Amsoil. Amsoil has a 30 year history, mountains of data to back up their claims, an excellent additive package, and offers extended drain intervals.

Hey Steven,

I had a question that I posted bout a week ago as a seperate thread but I think it got ran out in a day. My father in-law knows an Amsoil dealer in OK that is offering a six month free preferred customer trial period. Do you offer this at all?

Paul

I will match the offer on a limited basis.

If someone is placing an Amsoil order (of any size ... be it $5, $50, or $500), then I will pay the 6-Month Amsoil Preferred Customer Membership fee.

Simply send me an Email to the address under my member name ..... (sroark@american-synthetic-oil.com) ..... with the Subject: Amsoil Free Membership, or anything similar so that I know what the Email is about, and I will contact you.

Thank You,
