Message: i have a 2001 dak quad cab 4.7l. i started having problems with my brakes and the mechanic said it was the proportioning valve.we bled the lines after installing a new master cylinder and the rear lines were not pumping out fluid so we worked our way backwards till we got to the proportioning valve. once there we pumped the brakes and nothing came out. master cylinder worked fine but i have no rear brakes. is that what is wrong with the system or is it something else? i need help.

Message: if you have disc brakes.. might try replacing the calipers, or if its drums.. there is a little round cylinder inside your brake drum.. cant remember what its called, but you could try that also spray brake cleaner on the ends of your brake lines.. alot of times they get clogged with road dirt causing the problem you just described

Message: sounds like your mech was right. if fluid is not coming out of the valve to the rear it must be the prop valve.
