Message: Thatīs awesome!!!!! Iīm here at work right know and I could not read this without saying to you, Sneezer:
Bring this Beast to the internet(Videos) and show us all how you will eat the track with slicks! Good luck!
I want my truck to have big power in the future.
God, So disapointed with my Powerdyne Supercharger... That thing offered me no sick power until 4900rpm with 9psi! Itīs not able to feed air enough to our brave 5.9L I paid less and got the trash!!
What moddification. Have you done to the block itself, Sneeze? Did you make it o-ringed with cooper gaskets?

Message: Whats up guys Ive been gone for a while. Well I just wanted to let you guys know that my 4.7 Twin Turbo RC Dakota is no longer around. I lost it in a fire in November. I was bringing it back to Miami from SEMA show in Las Vegas and the transport company called me up and told me they had an accident and the truck was burned. All that I was able to salvage were the Turbos the rest of the truck was crispy. So all I want to say to all you turbo fans is that turbos are the way to go and to have fun and make sure that when you boost your truck you do everything correctly. It is worth the money if you can afford it. You guys go out there and kick some import butt for me.

Message: I wish the turbo was mine, but it is not. I was merely reporting what I found on another board. Here is the most recent update I have found - off the Delphi R/T board, and posted by Ed Morris, the owner of the turbo truck in question.

The new system may have hit a snag.
When we first installed the kit, we re-set the PCM. A one way check valve was installed on the inlet of the MAP with a bleeder towards the MAP. Initially, this worked OK. But as I have been driving the truck, the small part throttle blip in the A/F has returned. I have tried additional check valves located upstream from the first one and bled to atmosphere. No luck. My theory is as the PCM learns what we have done, it's not liking it anymore.
The specific problem is, as you accelerate lightly your TPS is at one position, while the MAP is seeing less and less vacuum to soon as boost begins to build. There comes a point at which the PCM should begin delivering a little more fuel, but doesn't cuz it thinks you are cruising at speed. So it keeps stoich. just a we bit too long, causing a brief lean stumble.
This "little" problem represents a major brick wall when it comes to driveability on the street. Drive past the blip and all of a sudden you are coming under boost and break the tires loose. Driving "under" the blip becomes my only option on the street. Which means I have to drive like an old man :o) ( I drive like an old man anyway, but it's nice to have it when you need it.) The other issue is safety. Sometimes you need to pass people and if you hit the blip, your stuck. This could cause an accident.
I have come to a crossroad here.... This system kicks ass on the track. Plenty of potential power to be made with turbo and stand alone fuel management. We made it work with a MP PCM, #30 injectors, a bleeder on the FMU, and adjustable fuel pressure. It's really a band-aid approach to getting around DFI in IMHO... We made respectable power and ran a 12.05 with lots of tire spin....
But if i want any more out of this system, I will run DFI with bigger injectors... That can't happen right now for various reasons.
I am not giving up just yet on the MAP issue, I'm gonna give it my best shot to clear this up, but realistically, it probly ain't gonna happen :o( Too many people have already tried and failed .
This system deserves better than what the PCM or a 1 bar map sensor can offer. Too bad DC won't make a 2 bar map for us ... :o(
Track testing is delayed right now due to the fact I don't have a roll bar installed yet. Scott Q. has one on the way...
I have been either sucking or blowing a small amount of oil up thru the breather cap and then into the inlet of the turbo. An oil separator goes on Monday. That should solve the oil issue.
I will also be changing wastegate springs for street testing. We run a 10 lb. spring now. I will put a 5 lb. spring to see if that cures the part throttle blip.
This project was put together to showcase what a turbo can do for our motors. It wasn't really meant to be street driven with a 10 lb. spring.
It's way too early too pass judgement on this system, but here are some things to consider.
1 Racer/tuners who already have a stout bottom end, and/or DFI have another choice now for forced induction on the track.
2 The majority of us have stock bottom ends and stock fuel management, and want a system that can co-exist with that. I personally want Turbo Tech. to address this more closely. Most of us don't want a full blown race setup anyway.
3 Regardless of power output, A turbo setup is probly gonna be as expensive as a Paxton... :o( The kit I have is around $5400...
4 It's not "plug-n-play" or a "true bolt on kit"... There will be some exhaust fabrication. And there may very well be some tweaking to do to get it working right.
5 Since boost is easily adjusted, you have lots of options... Go with a lesser HP street version for lightly modded trucks and adjust boost up as you build your motor... I will be testing soon with less HP on the street. I'll post up the results.
As a minimum, this setup in any version requires the following mods.
Stronger head gaskets... (Felpro 1008 or better)
Relocation of several items in the engine compartment, including (in my case), the cruise control module, PCM, and coil. This may vary with year.
A way to retard ignition under boost... (MSD-6 BTM) or other.
Mounting of a 2-5 gal. water cell in the bed.
Larger than stock fuel injectors... (size will depend on HP output and other fuel system mods.
Mounting of dash switch for intercooler fan.
Mounting of water pump and intercooler rad./fan under frame.
Exhaust fabrication to locate turbo downpipe and turbo crossover pipe.
FMU and in-line fuel pump.
Mounting of Variable boost regulator. (location optional)
Mounting of air filter by pass. side foglight, inside the fender.
Reccommended Mods include:
Boost guage And A/F guage (preferably wideband A/F)
Fuel pressure guage
Exhaust and header (driver's side only)
LM-1 or similar data logging unit... (this should be a MUST if you are gonna play around with different boost levels.)
Heavy Hitter mods:
FAST or DFI
Huge injectors
15 lb. wastegate spring
Bulletproof everything :o) you get the idea!
Sorry for such a boring, long post, but I think it's important to get out as much info on this as I could. I hope it gives you guys some ideas about your own trucks. Maybe a few of you will seriously look into this system. The few that do will find some nice surprises.
The majority will not because of the MAP issue and I can't blame ya for that... It's driving me nuts!!
I welcome your comments and suggestions (Good or Bad) on this setup.
