Message: It is probably the fuel pressure regulator/filter on top of the tank. I am assuming it is a 94 and up.

Message: Check into aftermarket fuel pumps before you buy a Mopar. The Mopar pumps are outrageously high compared to some of the aftermarket ones.
Had the same problem a few months ago and replaced the entire unit. No problems since. Get ready to remove the entire tank!!!

Message: Its got to be either "fuel or fire".
To test for proper spark: Remove a spark splug, then replace the wire on it. Have someone turn over the engine while you are holding the plug. If this shocks the crap out of you, your spark is ok and you need to focus on the fuel delivery. Follow the advice on the previous posts.
Seriously... Have you checked you cap and rotor? Its amazing how much corrosion accumulates on the OEM type aluminum components.
Is your engine running as smooth now as it did when it started with the touch of a key? If not, it may be a bad plug or wire. If your engine is not running as smoothly, you can possibly isolate the "bad wire/plug" by removing your spark plug wires, one at a time. Each time you remove a wire, your engine should run noticeably worse. If you remove a wire and it makes very little or no difference, you have located the problem cylinder. You should know what to do from there....

Message: Thanks for the replies. Sorry about not giving a discription. I have a 2001 quadcab 4.7 with 50k on it. I think I may have gotten some bad gas not old but with sand possibly. I don't think spark is the problem but I thought I'd clean the crank sensor just incase. It's easy to get to. The thing will start if I crank it up to 6 seconds but I don't like to do that. Usually I have to turn the key a couple of times. Seems like the fuel presure is lagging. I thought there is a second filter in the fuel regulater? The Tank filter is just a sock type? Whats an easy inline kit out there? Appreciate the responces Gator

Message: CW, what do you mean by him not having to replace the whole unit? Is there an alternative? Also, I have read that some people remove the bed to get to the fuel pump and that it is easier to do this than to remove the gas tank.

Message: Removing the bed is easier if you have the man power and space to do it in. I wouln't want to risk scratching the sh%t out of my paint myself. You can buy the fuel pressure regulator/ filter assembly separate yes. It is about a 1/5 of the price of the whole unit.

Message: My pump on my 01 went at 15000km.
I have heard that running these pupmps on a
low tank can cause them to overheat and
eventually fail.
1- how long are these covered under
warranty?
2- RUN FULL TANKS
