Subject: Removing the AC??? IP: Logged
Message: hey guys,
This past weekend, I was trying to replace the AC without totally thinking it threw.. lol
I got the belt that they call for that the truck needs without an AC, but it isnt working. Does anyone know if theres more work in removing the AC than just removing the lines and the compressor? Do i need to buy a new type of brackey and totally switch all the pullys to that bracket?
I dont want the AC until in the truck, I dont use it, it takes away power and I want it out.

Message: What year? What size motor?
My compressor froze up, my tech pulled it and put a smaller belt on until he got a replacement compressor. I'm running a 2000 4.7L motor. I'll see what the numbers are on my smaller belt and post them here. Whatcha want for the A/C parts your pulling?

Message: Mines a 98 5.2L....I was reading the posts and saw that Intense said that I can just remove all the AC parts and put on a 90" belt. I want to talk to him first and see what all involved tho. I was going to just do it right, and replace the AC bracket with a non-AC bracket. But who knows how much Dodge wants for one of those.
I was going to sell the parts on ebay because I have no clue what they are all worth, but I'm sure IF these parts work on your truck, and you give me a good enough price, I could sell the whole thing!

Message: Rooknute,
I'll give you $50 plus shipping for the A/C compressor.
How's that sound? It was still working when you pulled it off right?

Message: ZoSoAir,
Let me figure out what all parts I need to get this thing off and to do it right and I'll let you know about the prices. I'm gonna look around on ebay to see what a going price is. Everything is working great, the AC has no leaks, or problems for that matter, it blows really cold air, I just dont use it cause I'm always on the highway and I dont mind my windows down, and because it takes power away and kills my gas milage.
