Subject: air conditioning? IP: Logged
Message: I have an issue with the a/c. Air works fine, but when the clutch kicks in- its a loud rattle bearing type of noise. I replaced the clutch and it quieted down for a short time. Its now back.
Could it be the compressor bearings rattling, when the clutch kicks in?

Message: Did you replace just the clutch or the whole assembly (clutch and compressor)?

Message: Could also be the tensioner pulley.

Message: just the clutch assembly. It comes complete. The noise is very agressivly coming from what i thought was the clutch, when it enguaged. I'm not so sure its not the compressor shaft bearing.? Not sure, but it would seem realistic to just change the compressor when it goes ka-put!! and of course a new drier and using a vacumme pump, etc.
