if you don't want to spend more than $5-6, what filter is better. How's the Purolater Pure One?

bman42,
If the cost falling in the $5 - $6 range is the only criteria ... then Pure1 and/or Napa Gold are excellent filters, giving you a balance of FLOW and FILTRATION.
NOTE: For All Readers ... Only the Purolator Pure1 uses metal endcaps ... the balance of their line uses paper end caps. Do not choose an oil filter with paper end caps.

Message: My .02 cents.
I run Castrol GTX 10W-40 (winter), Castrol 20W-50 (summer) and Mobil 1 oil filters with my 318 dakota. I get a knocking in the morning but I've been told it's from an internal intake manifold leak.
I used to own an 85 Grand Wagoneer and tried using FRAM filters because they were the norm. My oil pressure dropped to 0 while idling and I had an engine knock while cold. As soon as I went to Mobile 1 (as my buddy suggested) my oil pressure went up and my knocking stopped. Chrysler vehicles are very picky and FRAM is garbage. You might as well shove an old sock in a can and install in place of the oil filter.
I think Champion rocks, but thats more because Champion truck plugs are designed to fit multiple vehicles, including many Chrysler engines so they work best for me. I'll never run autocrap again.

JWJeep just "bumped" this thread with his post.
I never saw your question before today,

I typically takes between 7 - 10 business days to receive your FREE Amsoil Catalog. You certainly should have received it by now. Let me know if you have any questions.

Message: I suggest using the appropriate viscosity Amsoil over all other motor oils in all vehicles. For high quality oil filters with exceptionally high flow, go to www.cmfilters.com. With CM filters, you save the aluminum housing and only replace the filter element. The elements filter down to 8 microns. If you would like to filter motor oil down to one micron, go to www.trasko.com. They manufacture oil filters designed by the Subaru engineers with replaceable paper elements and reuseable finned aluminum housings. Flow rate can become an issue on some applications with the Trasko filter because it filters down to such a small particle size.
Sincerely,
Doug

Doug
I visited the CM Filter website and have 2 questions:
They seem rather small and I question flow = bad?
They do not have a bypass valve = bad?
