I have a 2000 4.7 Dakota QuadCab under normal driving conditions engine will rev up and down 400-600 RPMs continuously. Has anyone had encounters with this problem?

sounds like the TPS sensor to me. Mine did the same thing when the TPS went bad. Especially noticeable with the cruise on.

TPS for sure. Just had that problem last week. $35 bucks at autozone or $89.14 from dealer. Change it and your problem is solved. You might have to reset the PCM. The engine lite would not go off after changing mine until the PCM was reset.
