Message: Anyone's help is appreciated
My truck at half open throttle runs great, but as soon as I stomp it, it sounds like and old 750 double pump's secondaries opening but the truck will barely move and has no torch.
From a roll I would lose traction going into 2nd, before the transmission shifted, I guess it was the power I was getting out of my cam at 5000 rpm. It was awesome. Now I can punch it from a stop and spin the tires, but I can't roast them if I want it will just boooooooog.
On the highway if I'm at 3000 RPM's and punch it it sounds like I'm getting more air than fuel, I get a deep woooop sound from my M1 and the rpms barely climb. If I let of the accelerator I get more power than WOT. What gives? This just recently changed and I miss the savage I use to drive.
This is what I have done since it started:
FMC 22 lbs injectors from Bruce at 50motorsports
fuel filter
fuel pressure regulator
MSD 6AL and Blaster SS
I even get the sound when I manually pull the throttle linkage to WOT. Sounds like a flooding $ barrel, But this was doing this before I did the above mods.
93 5.2 with 518 tranny with 2800 stall and rebuilt to race.
Engine has large cam, springs, port and pollished M1, heads, rebuilt 20K miles ago, Carsound Cat, MoparPerf cat back, electric fans no clutch, K&N, MP PCM, I'm running 3924 autolites not 23s Robertshaw 180.
All you brains, KRC, Bernd, anyone. I'm needing your help.

Message: Maybe a plugged caylist? Go under the truck and thump the cat with your fist. See if anything is ratteling around in there. Mine beat itself into a ball shape and would roll back and plug the pipe when I tried to accelerate.

Message: Is your engine running hot? What's your fuel pressure reading? When it's doing this, what does the tach show? Does it feel like your tranny is slipping or is it more of a lean condition symptom?
Just some things you might want to check.

Message: Ar you kidding my new 4.7 does the same thing, it's an 04. I have a magnaflow and a KandN filter. I also put on the fennco no hub replacing the snorkle.
My truck does the same thing. It is a monster off the line but on the freeway it tends to bog down when I punch it. If you have the 5 speed auto I think it is not downshifting fast enough. I noticed when I got a bit rough with it it downshifts a bit faster. if you are going 50 and it only downshifts to 4th you arent going anywhere get it to third and then it seems to go

Message: aj, it sounds like you need to check the output on your TPS if the tranny won't downshift when you need it.

Message: Both my Daks are that way. I could be cruising at 65mph, and unless I slam it to the floor, it just tries to go faster in the same gear. Flooring it drops one or two gears and it takes off like a bat outta' Hell though! Still, in other vehicles I've driven, if you give it more than 2/3 throttle it'll drop gears, but I have to floor mine to do so.

Message: Thanks for all your responses,
I just dropped my truck off at the shop and hopefully they will be able to get the fuel readings. I have considered the cat even though I replaced it less than 6 months ago. If it's the cat I think I'm going to gut it, but I'm afraid I'll loose too much of the restriction 5.2s need to keep the torque. The shop will also let me know if the T-stat is opening properly and to find out what running temp I have, but she'll do this even when first starting and cold.
Just this weekend I was on the interstate and noticed while I was driving the bogging sound got louder at around 2800 RPMs. I started to decelerate even while I pressed the gas pedal. It felt like the truck wasn't getting enough gas to keep up with the air I was giving it. When I punched it the kickdown worked fine but the engine wasn't giving the tranny anything to work with. The fastest I could go was 65 and if I pressed the gas I slowed down anssd heard a bad hissing sound like a vacuum leak but all the vacuum lines were fine. Its sounded like the last time I had a TPS problem, but that would effect me while driving or at WOT would it?
I also think I have a lean problem, but after using a 180T, tried the 3923 plugs and installed the FMC 22# injectors, if I am still running lean it could only be the temp sensor for the pcm which is fairlly new or my fuel pump which is original.
I'll let you know what they find if anything. Does anyone have any experience with an air fuel gauge? I want to get one.

Message: Usually if you have a lean condition, you will get a backfire through the intake on acceleration. The hissing noise may be exhaust back pressure.

Message: Way to go DaHemi. My friend called me and said that my new cat is fried and I was getting a backfire though the intake, have you ever seen and intake cover imploded (sucked in)? He told me that he took the O2sensor out and test drive it. It sounded like s#!t but my power came back. I'll keep you informed.
