Subject: A/C problems IP: Logged
Message: Have a 98 dak 4x4 5.2. My A/C will not switch to the dash board vents when I switch it nor is it very cold. Had the system tested and nothing wrong with A/C. Have wet carpet underneath the drivers side mat all the time. Could it be condensation leak from A/C or is it something worse like a broke heater core???? How tough is it to fix the dash adjustment ????

Message: THE WET CARPET IS PROBABLY A CLOGGED CONDENSATE DRAIN. ITS USUALLY LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. JUST CLEAN IT OUT AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE VENT PROBLEM MIGHT BE A LOOSE VACUUM HOSE. THEY USUALLY OPERATE OFF OF SOME TYPE OF CLEAR VACUUM HOSE. SEE IF ONE FELL OFF OR IS LOOSE. LOOK RIGHT BEHIND THE DASH UNIT ITSELF. THERE SHOULD BE TWO HOSES HOOKED UP TO IT. AS FAR AS THE COLD AIR PROBLEM SEE IF THE COMPRESSOR IS EVEN COMING ON. IF IT IS LOW ON REFRIGERANT THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO COME ON.
