its a 70 MM tb. my truck is stock (for now) except for a dynomax super turbo muffler. i plan on cold air intake soon as well.... will i lose torque with this tb? my truck is an 00 cc 4x4 auto with the small 65mm tb...
many thanks

Message: look at it this way... you can go ahead and buy a 68mm and be happy for now.. but then you buy your headers, your HO intake, your HO cams and such and then you think to yourself; "i need a 70mm!"
then you go back and spend more money on something you had the chance to buy $1200 ago.
get it now and have some fun with it!
torque loss would be minimal at most.

Message: COOL sounds good!! now i just need to save up some $... it should help especially in the upper RPM range... i have my stock unmodded v6 tb, maybe i can sell that to get some of the money.
my 4.7 never ceases to amaze me! last night i was able to stay with a honda CRX (stick, loud fart muffler, by the way it sounded it was modded pretty good) this guy was all over my bumper on the way home from work last night. i gased it a few times to distance him, but he never gave up.... he passed me ( i was doing 70) and when he was at my fromt bumper i nailed it. i never lost a single bit of space up to 110 (we backed off, stop sign coming up in about 1/2 of a mile)
very impressive for a (stock except dynomax super turbo) heavy cc 4x4 3:55 AUTO!!!! I woulda killed him in the takeoff, if i could get traction that is. hopefully the tb will wake up the top end a little more, without loosing low end....
thanks

Message: You won't loose torque anyway. It just moves up the power curve a bit. Get your air induction ASAP to feed that big puppy.

Message: YES, a 70mm is TOO BIG for an essentially stock 4.7 engine. Until you get all the mods for your engine, it's going to lose bottom end and will not make anymore power at the top end until the last couple hundred rpm before redline. This won't be noticable because it'll be a split second before it shifts.
Of course, it only takes 10 minutes to change the thing (30 minutes since you still have the stock air hat) so, once you realize that it doesn't run as well as the stock 65mm TB, you can put the stock one back on and put the 70mm back in the box for future installation. If you have to get a better TB, I'd go with the Fastman true 68mm.

Or you can ignore me and listen too those other guys.
You've got to ask yourself, how big it too big?

Message: I suspect you'll be giving up some low end torque too. Deerridge's reply seems to be more about peak torque than low end torque, which is where you should be conserned. Let us know how you make out if you try it.

Message: Yes, changed to 68 mm '01 and up. Look for an '01, one good source might be carparts.com, or you might find someone here who has gone bigger with more mods and willing to part with the old one. I'm running a home ported '01 in my '00, works well. They changed something in '02 or '03, I forget which - you want an older one.

Message: I believe it was done with a dremel tool - there's info on "how to" here if you do a search. I cheated - bought it from someone who planned to swap theirs to a newer truck then found they changed. Didn't actually port it myself, but it looks simple to do.

Message: A dremel, thats gotta take forever and a day. I had thought about honing one out or maybe even hitting the local machine shop up to bore 1 out. Wish I had a spare one just in case. I know, I know, hit Ebay.

Message: A dremel, 60 grit drums, 120 grit drums. Then sand paper starting at 220 grit, 400 grit, 600 grit then 1,000 grit. Get it as smooth as possible and the torque step completely removed. After you are happy with the primary port job then Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish with the cloth wheels on the dremel will bring it out to a mirror finish. Then take the dremel and a cut off wheel and cut the screws in the throttle plate down flush with the plate support bar for added flow. Some people I have seen then will taper the edges of the throttle plate down like a knife edge to further improve flow. Total Time for project 1hr 45min, toal retard 2hrs.
And No, the 70mm throttle body isn't to big. I'm not to sure about the brand SICK, but Fastmans produces and sell similar throttle bodies and has a great reputation for service if you choose to have someone else do the work for you. I ported mine then went and Bought an F&B (Flowmetrics and Bruce) 70mm From Sam P. at SoCalDakota.
I have liked this one better than a Home Port or Fastmans for asthetics and performance, but the price isn't cheap, $400.

Message: Old and Wise, man you'de never get the job completed, to complicated for you. And do post under your real screen name, hiding behind bogus names is such a fag thing to do, but then again I notice that a lot around here. At least when I post something I use my real screen name, I have another screen name on this site, but I don't use it since it has been more than a year since I payed my dues. And I think it is wrong to continue using it. It is incase you are wondering, yates-in-de. So if you don't have anything productive to say please refrain from the useless insults.

Message: Old and Wise, man you really mulled over this one didn't you. It really took you some time to come up with something, and it took you 3 posts to do it. You aren't very quick are you?
And yes I have Balls; I need a wheel barrow to carry them around. And anyone that considers the things in that post you tried to link and couldn't, an insult really has some issues that need to be worked out. Here let me link it for you http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/17786.html
And my screen name is no different than any other unregistered user, except I have the big balls to use the same one every time, and point you to my registered screen name, unlike some folks that think they are funny.
And I never said that Germans are 'Smarter than Americans’, I said they make fewer stupid mistakes while driving 'cause 'yes Germans are better drivers than Americans in General'. If you feel offended by that see the 2nd paragraph this post (wouldn't want you to get lost trying to find it).
And the phrase 'Beat it like a Stupid Woman' is a very old phrase. Using a phrase such as this doesn't indicate that I would or do beat any woman. It's a stupid cliché Dumb@ss.
And I said anyone that doesn't have the balls to post under their usual screen name is acting fagish. This has nothing to do with membership to this site. Can you not comprehend what you read? Maybe this being a fag thing is something that you have been struggling with for a while, good luck dealing with it, Vin Diesel did.
And if you don't or can't understand the Joke in the extra 15 minutes is a 'total retard', then maybe I'm hitting a little to close to home for you. You think maybe.
Do you want to continue with this, or has your supreme manhood now been bashed to the point that you feel you have to win.
