Subject: 1994 5.2 problem IP: Logged
Message: My truck starts fine, runs strong, except for the fact that when I take my foot off the gas it starts to idle very low and irregularly, on occassion it dies on me, but then starts right back up. It just started doing this. The engine has over 200,000 miles, doesnt leak any, and burns very little. Any ideas on what it could be? By the way the truck is totally stock.

Message: Check the fuel pump. They have been known to go out before. I have a 1992 with 183k, have a similar problem. Very intermittent though. Does not happen all the time, but will have a rough idle and stall out. Always starts back up again. I do have a badly leaking intake gasket, so I think that may be contributing to the problem. I just got my new M1 manifold in yesterday, so it will be put on the truck in the next week or two.

Message: Check the automatic idle system (AIS)It may have carbon in it causing it to stick.
