Of course it will fit! The outside of the engine isn't different, it's the parts inside that make it a HO engine.

To get the full benefit of the engine you'll need the Jeep's HO PCM. However, I have no clue if it'll be compatible with your existing wiring harness, tranny, etc. It also has provisions for 2 knock sensors that the Dak PCM doesn't support. Check through previous postings about this subject. I seem to recall that this subject was discussed.
If you decide to go for it and pull it off you gotta let us know all the details. Good luck.

If you have a 2003 why not just change the cams and manifold. If ya don't have the 4.7 I would buy the Dakota 4.7 motor the 2004, modify that motor accordingly.
I have a new CC 4wd 4.7 2004, that little fcker came fast right out of the box. I sold an 02 same truck and this one is definitely faster. maybe I just got a fluke motor but this damn thing is way faster than my old 02. Go Figger. I think they have made changes to 03 and 04. I have noticed that parts only go to 03 and there is mostly no 04 listing yet. maybe 04 is slightly different from 03 and 02, I do know both trucks well and this 04 is a beast.

Some come from the factory with more spark advance than others - that is likely the biggest part of the difference you feel, unless the trucks have different gear ratios. Most of the torque advantage of the HO can be had by just changing the cams.

You can change the cams but their's more to the
4.7HO motor then just cams, the blocks are not
the same the cranks are not the same and the heads are different too

Lilred - what's your point ? Of course there are other differences; but as I said, you'll see most of the torque gains with just the cam swap. Some of the other differences will mean a Jeep HO motor won't work in a Dak; i.e. the PCM won't properly interface. Others would mean big $$$ for negligable gains.
