Subject: '02 4.7L Throttle Body Cleaning IP: Logged
Message: Can somebody help me out. How hard is it to clean the throttle body of a 2002 4.7L? If it's not too complicated, can someone explain it to me and what to use to clean it? Also, does it need cleaning every so often or just when performance (ie. rough idle, etc.) is down? How much of a difference will it make if I clean it vs. leave it alone. I have 64,000 KM's right now.
Thanks for any help!

Message: It will make a difference. Not a huge one but it will be noticeable. It's very easy to clean. Just remove the throttle body and clean it with some carb cleaner. Should only take 30 minutes or so. The throttle body is very easy to remove.
Just be careful with the bolts that hold the IAC and TPS. These are the two sensor looking gadget attached to the right side of the TB (facing the engine). The metal (not the threads, the head) is kinda soft. I'd recommend spraying some white lithium grease (you can get it at any auto parts store) on them before replacing them. They'll go in no problem after that.
