not likely, i live in maine, thanks for the offer though.
i just reread the last two pages of posts. and from what i gathered, you are still trying to say that the tranny and the transfercase share the same fluid. i understand that they use the same fluid but, i have never seen in any truck (not saying there isn't one out there) where they share it, as in mix together.
just trying to understand where you are coming from.

I'll take a picture of mine for ya'. Like I said earlier, I found out that MANY models do not. I was wrong in assuming they were the same. However, mine is built right into the back of the tranny. There go my crazy intentions of getting an RT 6-spd manual and bolting on, LOL!

learn something new every day!! i would like to see a picture of that setup if you can.
so the transfer case must sit at the same level as the tranny then? all the trucks i have seen it sits slightly lower.

So they made one special for you? I would have thought they mass produced them all the same with the tranny and transfer case being separately sealed units.

It is level on mine with the transmission. now the part where the shaft going to the front comes out is a hair lower. I'll try to get some pictures the next day I am off and not exhausted from work.

I have two trucks. Both are identical, minus the engine and tranny. Big one is my green one in the pics I posted here in the past. 1995 CC 4x4 loaded, 3:55 gearing, 5.2L. First one is a 1992 CC 4x4 everything but the good stereo, and no power windows/locks. It has 3:92 gearing and the 3.9L V6.

Hey Dude,
I like the Skitzo tag for Sephiroth. He’s been blasting people with ignorance for a long time. He may be mental and I’m not sure how he will handle himself when he finds out that a transmission and transfer case are 2 “two” separate units. They may well use the same type fluid, but they surely don’t share it. He actually thought that he was checking his transfer case fluid when he checked the automatic transmission fluid level. What a dumb a$$. I was just reading from another post that he melted his wiring in his truck with the wrong bulbs and then tried to blame Dodge for the problem. Hope he doesn’t have any transfer case problems, surely he will again blame DC for his ignorance.

I suggest your ead my entire posts, because now you ocne again, look like an idiot. I have in my posession, three of the connections and wires that plug into the lightswitch on a Dak. Two are from OTHER Daks that are stock, like my '92. My '95 is the one with Xenon bulbs. However, all of them are melted! Explain how using stock bulbs causes this if it is my magical Xenons that did it. See I already had my truck to a garage to get a professional opinion and when put under the NORMAL load, the wires got hot to the touch. granted, it took a minute longer than with the Xenons, but it got hot none-the-less. I suggest you do your homework before posting. I also posted that DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, only int he Rams, not in the Daks. I got that bit of info FROM DODGE. They use the SAME switch though, and probably identical wires, so I guess it hasn't clicked with them that this is a Dak problem also. And judging from the numerous Gen1 and Gen2 Daks I have taken apart and compared, IT IS A STOCK PROBLEM. I do NOT know about Gen3, so if you're basing your VERY uninformed, VERY biased opinions on a Gen3, you're even dumber than I thought.

After Sephiroth gave the info on his two trucks I called the local dealer and asked the question on both trucks. The head mechanic for Zangara Dodge in Albuquerque NM said that they are seperate units (transmission and transfer case) and both must be checked for their FLUID levels. You can not check the "fluid" level of the transfer case through the transmission dipstick. There is a fill plug and a drain plug on the transfer case. He also said that they are seperated by two seals and that is why you can't check the "fluid" level of the transfer case with the transmission dipstick. What's even funner is the guy even used the term "oil" level. When he used the term "oil" I knew he wasn't talking about motor oil, but transmission fluid. I do have common sense. One of the many definitions of "oil" is "lubiracant" as defined in the "New College Edition" of "The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language". And what is one of the things that the autotrans "fluid" does in the trans, that's right it lubricates. So the term "oil" in its most basic definition could be used. I agree MOST people don't understand the difference, but with research and common sense...oh never mind who does "research" anymore and lets not forget that common sense isn't so common.

JB,
Thanks for the response. Sephiroth lamblasted DAHEMIKOTA for his reply to the original post on this topic. Sephiroth said do your homework. I'm sure that he is just a juvenile. He has many posts with problems that he either created or imagined in his own mind. He doesn’t have a life except for his posts on the Dakota site. I think he goes by Ryan Ashley aka Lord_dakron@hotmail.com on the gamers sites. He is not very intelligent and is immature and just like Clinton won’t admit to his mistakes. He needs to be spanked by his parents. He will not take a picture as he said he would of his 'imaginary transfer case sharing fluid with the transmission' and if he did truely have a 4x4, he would admit to being a liar on the world wide internet with millions of people watching. Ryan come clean and .....

I work at a used car dealership that my family has owned since before i was even born. We have a full service facility and we sell a lot of dodge trucks. Everything from dakota's to ram 3500's. I have yet in my experience with these vehicles seen one that the transfer case and the transmission share the same fluid. If would be unthinkable by a manufacturer for one reason. If you run it out of fluid you have to then replace both the transmission and the transfer case. You have to remember that even though it's only for some of the vehicle's life that they do it the manufacturer does warranty them. I own two chryler's 4x4's myself and neither of them have the transfer case and the transmission combined. If they were i wouldn't hang on to it because chrysler is notorious for their transfer case issues so my tranny would probably go too.
