Subject: 4.7L nitrious on flashed pcm. IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys. I have been determined to build my truck up with bolt ons. As of present I am pretty maxed in this department and don't want to loose my pcm flash. I just wanted some opinions from the experienced on weither you guys think I will be ok. personally I think it should be fine. And I have run nitrious in the past.
The kenne bell pcm advances timing and adjusts the fuel curve. I cannot get how many degree's they advanced the timing out of kenne-bell. However they do not tune as aggresive as mike leach or some of the others.
Kenne bell states the pcm must be run with 93 octane gas. I run it with 87 and have been doing so for almost a year without any pings kenne-bell seems to be real concerned about liability, as they will not remove a 98mph speed limiter. I have a 180degree robert shaw as well. I also have a relocated Iat I could move back.
with the information listed above I feel I should be able to run a wet kit safely. I would ideally like to run a 100shot but would feel it is pronbable safer to run say 75hp. if the stock engine can handle a 100hp shot and I have heard of others with kenne-bell superchargers running 100hp shots. I don't see any reasons I wouldn't be ok.
If I did run nitious should I relocate my Iat back to the stock position? in effect wouldn't this retard my timing some? does the computer retard timing when the check engine light is on? I could trip a sensor to set off the light as a safe mode. I am unaware if the computer pulls timing but I remeber reading somewhere it will. I would definately run 93 or 93 and an octane booster.
So stating my case, I would like to know what others rational on this is and if I am on a logical track or not. as I said I am not interested in cams or a supercharger. I've always loved the bottle.
