When the truck has sat for a couple of days and it is first thing in the morning, I put the truck into drive and when you press the pedal it feels as if the engine is racing and the truck moves slowly. If you drive further and accelerate and slow and accelerate, enventually in locks in ? and then no other problems, except the 'normal' occassional sloppy shifts and downshifts. It almost always happens if the truck has sat for a few days !
Any ideas ?

Message: This is pretty common with Dodge transmissions. I've heard of it from a lot of owners, and have experianced it once or twice. Apparently, there's no anti-drain back valve in there where it should be, so fluid drains out of all the passages. Then it takes a little while to get back where it's supposed to be. You might try a fluid and filter change.
The same thing happens to my old '66 Mustang, but it seems to happen more often, and recover quicker.

Message: I just did a trans fluid change hoping it might alleviate the problem, but it still does it. I notice it seems to happen more when parked on a hill, so maybe what you say is true. And if that is all it is, I am OK with it.
I had all drive train fluids changed at a 4 wheel drive specialty shop and they said the trans fluid was like brand new with almost 30k on it and I tow. thanks for you input !
