Subject: Random Problems IP: Logged
Message: I got my used 01 4.7 rc sport about 5-6 weeks ago. It was great, still is. I just have some little problems.
First problem. My downshift into first when I'm slowing down is crazy. It's not really violent or anything, it's just not subtle. When it downshifts it actually feels like I've tapped the throttle for a second making the car jump forward. Then when I take my foot off the brake, it hardly idles at all (reverse is similar but not as bad). I had a dodge caravan that did this, and next thing I know I had no transmission (I'm hard on them). Hopefully this isn't the same sign.
Second problem happens every time I drive! I start the truck and I wait several seconds and then put it into gear (D or R doesn't matter) and the rpm's will drop considerably and it will barely creep until I give it some gas and then it jumps as if I gave it too much. This morning I actually didn't give it any gas and the rpm's just continued to slowly drop until my engine stalled.
Third problem. The stalling, this also happens after I get home from work or get to work (it's about 10-15 miles on the highway). when I get to a destination, stop, and put it in park the rpm's will climb to 900 or so but on their way down they dip into the 400 range, sometimes the truck will even stall. This doesn't happen at lights or when I slow down, ONLY when I stop and put it into park.
Let me know what you guys think

Message: i was checking over some things at work and i remembered there was a TSB that I found for similar conditions that your dak is showing. the TSB applies to the rams with 4.7's in the same fashion. the TSB is to flash (reprogram) your PCM. take it to the dealer and ask them to check out TSB 18-003-02 for Vehicle Performance Enhancements. Hope this helps. This flash is to help correct the idle/stalling concerns.

Message: Thanks Mike. I'll check into that. I've also found it might be my throttle body, as it has 50k miles on it and never been cleaned. =(
