HELP!
I drove to work this morning, no problems with my 4.7L Dak, went to start it for lunch and it wouldn't even turn over. I jumped it and the idle was VERY quiet. The ABS light and Brake light were on, but I don't think that is a problem. I ran it around the block a few times without any problems. I parked it in a parking spot, turned the AC on, no problems. I put it in reverse, and it died. The dash lights went out, radio went off, couldn't start it again.

The starter works fine, the Battery has plenty of juice, it has 33K miles on it, I changed the oil last week with Mobil, and have no Check Engine Light. WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE? Computer? Sensors?

Not sure about the engine not running but seeing the ABS and BRAKE lights on at the same time indicates a failure of the "output speed sensor" in the rear end. It runs the speedometer from 0-15/20MPH and runs the ABS computer. My`99 R/T did this to me at 33k miles.

Good luck on your other probs...

But the output speed indicator wouldn't keep the engine from starting and power getting to the starter, would it?

No sir... I didn't experience that. Sounds like battery or connection probs.

Does the light under the hood turn on when lifting the hood even though the starter won't turn over? If so, have a friend watch the light while you crank (or try to). If it dims out, then there's most-likly a bad connection (generally at the terminals), or your battery won't hold a charge and when you hit low enough RPMs, the alternator can't keep fire going to the plugs and the computer.

Even though you may think your battery is fine...it most likely is the battery. This has happened to me twice and both times replacing the battery fixed the problem. One of the cells may be dead.

Thanks for the help.

Would the "brake" and "abs" lights come on when the battery (cell) is bad?

The dealer has it now.

Dealer called. It's battery.
$125 to flash, change battery, do a recall flash on the transfer case, and have it ready for me today.

I need a beer.
