Subject: LSD rear-end gearing IP: Logged
Message: I currently have a 3.55 LSD. If I want to go to 4.10 or a 3.96, what would I need to do? Install a complete rear-end? change gears in my existing one? If anyone has done this or knows how, can you please post instructions and part #'s if you can? Thanks!

Message: Changing the gears is not a difficult task, provided you have a good book and all the right tools. Mess it up just a little, and you'll have to start all over. Not cheap at all. R&P set costs about $150-200. Professional install generally around $200 or so. I'm almost done building a kit car, so I know my way around the tool box. But that's a job I just won't do.
Going from a 3.55 to a 3.93 won't make that m uch of a differance. It will be noticable, but not as much as you might think. I have 3.93 in mine, and I think it's just about right. If the majority of your driving is under 65'ish, or you plan on larger tires, seriously consider the 4.10.
